General Comment Btk29A encodes a product with protein tyrosine kinase (EC:2.7.1.112). Btk29A exerts pleiotropic functions in different developmental contexts in different tissues through the generation of distinct forms of protein products by means of alternative splicing. Btk29A is essential for head involution during embryogenesis and ring canal development during oogenesis. (Roulier et al., 1998*)

Species: D. melanogaster
Mutation name: Btk29Ae482
type: None
fertility: embryonic lethal
Comment: Females with homozygous germ line clones have defects in ring canal morphogenesis, and show a failure to completely transfer the cytoplasmic contents of the nurse cells to the oocyte. These females produce eggs ranging in size from 50% to 100% of wild-type. (Guarnieri et al., 1998)
